PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY
A Washington native, I've lived in the greater Seattle area all of my life.
I was born in Bellevue and raised on a 30-acre farm in a small town along Highway 2 that goes by the name
of Gold Bar (don't blink, you may miss it!). At the age of 7 my parents and I moved to Monroe where they opened Cascade Feed Company, a successful farming and animal supply store, while my father attended college. At the age of 10 we sold the
farm (literally) and store, packed up
the ol' truck, and moved to Mill Creek where I completed my public schooling.
After leaving the nest at 18, I moved
into a roommate situation in Seattle until I was able to save enough from my job at the phone company to purchase my first home in Federal Way at the age of 23. At
age 27, after catching the real estate investor 'bug' from my best friend of (then) 12 years, Larry Cutting, I purchased my first condominium, rented out the house in Federal Way, and began my real estate "empire."
Throughout the year I volunteer as much time as I can at Pasado's Safe Haven in Sultan. It's so rewarding drive up to their
animal sanctuary and have critters of all shapes and sizes rush over as if to say, "Hello and thanks for coming up to take care of me!" Even "Mr. Goose" rushes up to greet
me for head scratches and hugs... although his girlfriend isn't quite as social. :)
I also actively collect used computer equipment from those who would otherwise toss their old systems in the trash when they upgrade. I refurbish the salvaged parts and reassemble them into useful computer
systems, which include a trove of educational software and a new copy of Windows kindly donated by the Microsoft Corporation, and deliver them to deserving financially disadvantaged families in the area during the holiday season. It is one of life's true joys to see the amazement of the young children when they open the wrapped box and find out they have a brand new (to them) computer of their very own! If you or anyone you know has a
functional 'old' computer, monitor, printer, or just about any other peripheral device that is collecting dust in a closet or at your office, I would be most grateful if you would consider donating them to me for the kids. Let's work together and help make the holidays brighter for those that cannot afford the tools that many of us take for granted!
I currently live in Tukwila and share my home with
an opinionated Congo African Grey
parrot named Chester (who is hamming it up in the photo below).
